ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
Seems like Jet Blue's flight attendant has become a folk hero for getting "mad as hell" and not taking it anymore. After a 20 year career he cursed back at a belligerent passenger who cursed at him after being told to follow the rules and stay seated until the air craft reached the gate and the pilot turned off the Fasten Your Seat belt sign. Flight attendants do have a hard time with the flying public as do many airline employees. The stress level of flying is always high and given these hard and harsh economic times, the stress levels are even higher and more spontaneous.
All people - not only passengers - have a breaking point - and like in the movie Network, become "mad as hell" and don't take it any more. The Jet Blue flight attendant is one of them.
Another notable is Representative Charlie Rangel, (D, N.Y.) who said "Enough is Enough" wanting to put an end to a two year ethics committee investigation. He simply wants to stop dragging this out, have the committee bring forth the charges and evidence, allow him to defend those charges and allegations and get a ruling one way or the other. In other words, he is "mad as hell" and he doesn't want to take it any more. He wants it settled once and for all.
Representative Rangel has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1971, representing the Fifteenth Congressional District of New York, and is the most senior member of that state's congressional delegation. He is a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus. In January 2007, Rangel became chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, the first African-American to do so.(Source:Wikipedia)After serving 39 years in Congress, he too has had enough but he, in contrast to our flight attendant is not ready to just "grab two beers" and "slide down the ramp" leaving his career behind. Rep. Rangel wants his "day in court" sort of speak and let the cards fall where they will after that. He is asking that the Congressional Ethics Committee not wait until they reconvene in November - just before the elections - in which Rangel is running for re election.
Regardless of how or what you feel about Rangel, he is entitled to a speedy "hearing" and a speedy opportunity of presenting his case. However, our political process functions soley on its own behalf with no regard to right or wrong or who it may harm. It serves only for the purpose of its own interests for whoever is in control and needs to benefit. As Rangel put it, "the system isn't working for him, it may not work for others".
So too is the case with Maxine Waters.
A Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1991, representing California's 29th congressional district and later California's 35th congressional district (map). She is the most senior of the 12 black women currently serving in the United States Congress, and is a member and former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. Waters (D, CA), is also asking for a "speedy trial" on her alleged ethics violations being investigatged by the same Congressional Ethics Committee as is investigating Rep. Charlie Rangel.
The NYT article in part reads:
Representative Maxine Waters, Democrat of California, frustrated that the start of her ethics trial has not even been scheduled, urged the House ethics committee on Wednesday to formally release a list of charges that have been filed against her and to accelerate any trial so that her case can be resolved before the November election.
Ms. Waters, the ethics committee announced on Monday, has been charged with a still unannounced set of ethics violations, following a nine-month investigation into allegations that she had improper communications with executives from OneUnited Bank, a Massachusetts-based institution that her husband owned stock in and had once served on the board of directors, as the bank sought bailout funds from the federal government in late 2008.
But when the ethics committee on Monday announced the eight members who will make up a special panel to hold this trial, it declined to set a date for its first meeting, as it is already busy preparing for a separate trial of Representative Charles B. Rangel, Democrat of New York, who is also facing an unrelated set of ethics charges. Again, regardless of how or what you think about Rep. Waters, she is right to be "mad as hell" and want a speedy ethics review bringing or dismissing any allegations for charges yet to be brought out. She too is basically saying "Enough is Enough, I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore."
So what does all of this have to do with our focus on Goldman Sachs? Plenty, especially when you ask yourselves when is "Enough" - Enough? Are we "mad as hell" about the actions and the consequences of those actions taken by Goldman Sachs that befell and harmed the world? Is it time to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?
Some of us are "mad as hell" and are trying to do something about it. Mike Morgan, our founder, was "mad as hell" and wasn't going to take it anymore when he started this blog. Remember, they tried to beat him down and prevent this blog form being published but he stood up to them and beat them.
I was "mad as hell" when the actions of Goldman Sachs along with their band of merry banksters destroyed the mortgage industry, then the real estate industry then our entire economy along with the economies of many other nations. I founded TheMortgageFORUM to voice the truth amid all the lies coming from Wall Street and our Government. I began writing for another blog - FlippingFrenzy.com - dedicated to exposing those committing fraud in the real estate and mortgage industries. My focus however, was to expose the banks and Wall Street, something everyone seems - to this day - to be afraid to do. Then I stepped up to take over this site as well as the other 666 sites after Mike's health forced him to remove himself. You see, I am still "mad as hell" and I am NOT going to take it any more.
RobertM, who you see posting almost daily from the very beginning of this site is "mad as hell" and is showing it through his participation here. He is doing something about it but are any of us doing enough? Our individual efforts are commendable. The individual efforts of so many other publishing blogs on this and related topics are also very commendable. However, to be successful in this effort our voices must be unified and numerous. We must stand together and shout ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, We are mad as hell and we aren't going to take it any more.
The sins - no, the crimes - of Wall Street led by Goldman Sachs have been exposed yet no one, not the government, not any states, not any legislator, not anyone has cried out - ENOUGH, I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE.
We all seem to be fed up. We comment on blogs like this and others, we complain to our friends, relatives and neighbors and we applaud meaningless actions like that taken by the SEC against Goldman Sachs.
Many of us follow the behaviors of Goldman the company as well as the many Goldmanites that work there starting with their CEO, Lloyd Blankfein and working our way down the ladder. We seem to revel in the idea that they are a "vampire squid". We love to hate them for the attitude that they are above us all including the government. We hate them for the money they make which they take from the economies of nations (the people) and we hate them for their justifications for doing so (doing God's work).
But hating them is simply not enough. We all need to get "mad as hell" and say we are not going to take it any more. We need to DEMAND of our elected politicians and our law enforcement system to stop giving us lip service and begin serving us justice.
Folks, it is time for all of us to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, demand that the law work as it should. We need to bring those responsible for our current miseries - the Recession, the unemployment and the transfer of wealth out of the middle class - to justice. It is time we stand up -united - and say ENOUGH, grab those two cans of beer and leap off that jet not fearing the consequences. After all how much worse can it get?
If you are one of the 16% unemployed and/or underemployed then haven't you had ENOUGH? If you are one of the 40.8 million receiving food stamps, have you not had ENOUGH? If you are amongst the millions who have lost their homes or are about to lose your home to foreclosure from the banksters that put you in that position in the first place, haven't you had ENOUGH?
And most important, if you are the parent of one of the 12 million children that go to bed hungry in this country, haven't you had ENOUGH? And more important, if you are not the parents of those 12 million children aren't you "mad as hell" that there are so many hungry children here while the bonuses at Goldman Sachs are paid out in the billions of dollars. We need to put an end to the political influence that exists by these banksters and put an end to the continuous revolving door form their board room to places of high importance in our government.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
We must also put an end to our government working on behalf of "them" and not US, the people of the U.S.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Our Jet Blue flight attendant may just have given a wake up call to all Americans. We are mad as hell and we are not going to take it any more.
Charlie Rangel - be he innocent or guilty - displayed and verbalized his attitude of being "mad as hell" and not going to take it any more. His unprecedented address to Congress on Tuesday was a testimony to that. And Maxine Waters, again, be she right or wrong we don't know, but she is "mad as hell" because "they" won't bring allegations or charges openly or timely.
I applaud all three of these individuals for their guts in taking the actions and making the statements they did.
Now is your time and here is your opportunity to cry out - ENOUGH!
